Backing Up and Restoring the Database
The Database Manager allows you to back up and restore patient databases. Regular backups are strongly recommended to protect against data loss.
To access Database Manager, click Database at the top of the screen.
Backing Up the Database
- Select Database > Backup.
- Choose a save location and click Save.
The backup file must not be saved to any of the following locations:
- C:\\
- C:\\Program Files
- C:\\Documents and Settings
- Desktop
- My Documents
- Any network folder
Restoring the Database
Use the Database > Restore feature if a database becomes corrupted or needs to be migrated to a new PC.
Note: For multi-user XCEL installations, no other users should access the software during the restore process.
- Select Database > Restore.
- Click Yes to confirm you want to replace the existing database with the backup.
- Navigate to the backup file location and click Open. The restore will complete automatically.
Additional Database Notes
- To delete the existing database, copy the file Database_BLANK.bak from C:\\Program Files\\Atcor Medical\\SphygmoCor XCEL\\Factory to C:\\ProgramData\\AtCor Medical\\Backup\\, then restore Database_BLANK.bak.
- To migrate a database from XCEL v1.3 to v1.5: back up the database in XCEL v1.3, copy the backup file to C:\\ProgramData\\AtCorMedical\\Backup\\, then restore from within XCEL v1.5.
